Meet Rebecca Rain
Indisputable Canadian country music talent Rebecca Rain was born and raised in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. The Boots and Hearts “Emerging Artist Showcase” 2019 Finalist now splits her time between her hometown and Nashville, writing and recording her debut album.
For Rebecca Rain, there are three things that matter most – family, the small town she grew up in, and music. While that list may read like different things, in a very real way they are all simply parts of the same whole that drives her passion. That’s because there’s something about growing up in a small town… The lines between family, friends and strangers are drawn thinner and lighter – strangers become friends, friends become family, and family is inseparable from one’s self.
Part of the package growing up in the small-town life for Rebecca was a very early exposure to country music. Drawing influences from childhood favourites like June Carter Cash, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and Kacey Musgraves, Rain has crafted a sound that is equally modern and traditional, all delivered by a voice that is hauntingly pure, and with a reflective songwriting style wise beyond her years.
Introspective and empowering, Rebecca Rain’s new music embodies a fresh country sound exploring themes of dating, heartbreak, and facing life’s various challenges head-on with strength and determination.
The first single, “I Don’t Take Shit” off Rebecca’s debut album was released on August 26th, 2022 and has since been added on Topsify’s “Complete Country” playlist, as well as landed her opening slots for Beverly Mahood at St.Thomas’ Summer Harvest Festival 2022 and for Jess Moskaluke on the Barrie, ON stop of the award- winning country star’s “Mapdot Tour”.
Rebecca’s second single, “Sad Country Song” was released on January 20, 2023 and has since been added to Apple Music’s “New in Country” and “Canada’s Country” playlist as well as Topsify’s “Complete Country” playlist.
Now Rebecca is gearing up to release her third single "Heart Wide Open" on May 17th, 2024 which takes listeners on a journey from exploring the inherent fragility of our emotions in a new relationship to allowing us to trust the process of love and new beginnings.
“Being immersed in a musical family from a young age shaped who I am today.” says Rebecca “When I sing about love, loss, heartache or longing I’m singing about the experiences that we’ve all been through together. And, when it’s time to turn up the volume and get the boots stomping a little harder, growing up as the only sister to 3 brothers sure didn’t hurt.”
With all the places that Rebecca’s music has, and will continue to take her, she is grounded by the strength of her roots, and in knowing that eventually, all roads lead to home.
